I love this stage of a dinner party: Bellies full, wine and conversation flowing

Music matters when you're hosting. It’s not just background noise. It sets the tone, shapes the mood, and can actually change how you perceive things. So yeah, it’s critical to choose a great playlist when you’re hosting.

Since it’s nearly the weekend, here are a few Spotify playlists worth queuing up next time you’ve got people coming over. Also: Do you have a great go-to playlist for when people are over? Drop it in the comments and I’ll round them all up for a future post.

For a 60s cocktail party vibe: Bossa Nova Classics

Remember in Mad Men when Don and his second wife Megan hosted that cocktail party in their chic mod New York apartment? This playlist makes you feel like that. Or, if you really want that Zou Bisou Bisou vibe, scope this great 60s French mod/Bossa Nova mix.

For feeling like you’re at a hotel pool party: W Hotel Poolside

Shoutout to my friend Greg for making me aware of this playlist “inspired by W South Beach.” It’s got that unattainable chic and chill vibe of a mid-tier luxury hotel that just makes you want to pound Aperol spritzes and float on a giant inflatable flamingo. You know what I mean.

For pure vibes: Vibezzz

This is a playlist curated by my friend and Good Object co-founder, David Rho. While we were shooting some videos for Anyday, this was our background music when we weren’t rolling, and I just had to steal it. Now, I put it on constantly — when we’re just hanging around at home or when company is over. While it doesn’t follow one or even two specific genres, it’s this great mix of lo-fi, r&b, indie, samba… just music that feels good. Throw it on and see for yourself.
